JAKARTA FLOOD PREVENTION WITH A TRUE CAUSE (sequel) -- CAN GIANT WALL SALVAGE JAKARTA FROM FLOODS? -- Sohei Matsuno 1), Rizani Teguh 2)

Kategori: Universitas IBA

This paper is a sequel to a paper of the same title. The latter is called the 1st paper. The macro purpose of the two is the same, ‘to forward a true cause and just Jakarta flood prevention.’ An essential difference between the 1st paper and the other cause-prevention theories appeared together is, ‘the former finds the cause of Jakarta floods in the sea but the latter do it in the land.’ After the 1st paper, recently, a new theory that seeks the matters in the sea has appeared. It assumes to construct a Giant Wall in the Jakarta Bay with sequent reclamation between the Giant Wall and the Jakarta seafront. It imagines, “the project cost can be paid back by selling the reclaimed land.’ This paper judges the Giant Wall doesn’t salvage Jakarta from floods. The Training Dike to remove sediment that is clogging the rivers at their estuaries is only the solution to Jakarta floods. A money-seeking project, reclamation, may begin after the floods have been eradicated, separately from the flood prevention project. The Giant Wall is not only an impotent Long Wall but brings titanic, irrecoverable damage to the nation, the people socio-economically, eco-environmentally. Wait and see! what God is willing.
